TEHRAN – Iran plans to domestically manufacture long-range radar systems, Brigadier General Hamid Arjangi said on Saturday.

“Long-range radar systems are going to be installed and become operational in different parts of the country,” Arjangi, deputy commander of Khatam al-Anbiya air base for communications and technology information, told the ISNA news agency.
The radar antennas have been already installed and the systems will soon become operational, he noted.
He went on to say that the long-range radar systems are in two types, one for covering a distance up to 1000 kilometers and the other for covering a distance up to 3000 kilometers.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said the Islamic Republic is also developing some monitoring systems, which are capable of passing on intelligence to control headquarters during a very short period.
Iran successfully tested advanced equipment for communication and exchange of intelligence during military maneuvers dubbed “Modafe’an Aseman Velayat 3” (Defenders of Velayat Skies) in November, 2010.
The country’s first domestically manufactured air defense system was also successfully tested during the drills
